This handmade painting of three deer playing in the woods is a fine example of the Madhubani art of Bihar, the origin of which can be traced to the time of the Ramayana. Madhubani paintings mostly depict the men & its association with nature and the scenes & deity from the ancient epics. Painting is done mainly with fingers but also uses twigs, brushes, nib-pens, bamboos, and matchsticks. The painting is made using natural dyes and pigments and is characterized by eye-catching geometric patterns.
